China will ensure that carbon emission from the country's building materials industry reaches a peak level before 2023, according to an official document jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
The implementation plan calls for further promotion of energy-saving and low-carbon technology during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), with unit energy consumption and carbon emission of key products such as cement, glass, and ceramic reduced further. For the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China aims to see major breakthroughs in key low-carbon technology industrialization, with a green, low-carbon, recyclable and sustainable industrial system basically established.
