BIR: Global steel scrap consumption volume down in H1

Data from the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) indicated that the steel scrap consumption volume of major countries and regions in the world declined by 8.4% YOY to 248.8 million tons in the first half of 2022.
According to relative data, in the first half of 2022, the consumption volume of China, the world's largest steel scrap consuming country, went down by 13.8% YOY to 119.6 million tons; that of EU, the second largest consuming region, declined by 3.2% YOY to about 43.856 million tons; that of USA decreased by 3% YOY to 22.50 million tons; that of Turkey declined to 12.48 million tons, a decrease of 3% YOY.
