NBS: China's steel products production down by 4.6% YOY in H1 2022

According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China produced 90.73 million tonnes (Mt) of crude steel in June 2022, down by 3.3% from the year-ago period, and the average daily production was 3.02 Mt, down by 3.0% from that of May. In the first half of 2022, China's crude steel output totaled 526.88 Mt, 6.5% lower than the same period of last year.
In June, the country's pig iron production increased by 0.5% YOY to 76.88 Mt, with the average daily output down by 1.3% MOM to 2.56 Mt. From January to June, pig iron production totaled 438.93 Mt, reflecting a 4.7% decrease from the corresponding period of last year.
The country recorded a 2.3% year-on-year decline in June production of steel products, with the average daily output down by 0.2% from that of May. The total production of 667.14 Mt in the first half of 2022 was 4.6% below that of the same period of last year.
