WorldSteel: Global pig iron production by blast furnace down by 8.8% YOY in Q1

According to the statistics from WorldSteel, in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, pig iron production by blast furnace in 38 countries and regions was 310 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.8%. In 2021, pig iron output by blast furnace in these 38 countries and regions accounted for 99% of global output.
Pig iron production by blast furnace in Asia fell by 9.3% year-on-year to 253 million tonnes. In particular, China's output decreased by 11.0% YOY to 201 million tons, India's output increased by 2.5% year-on-year to 20.313 million tons, Japan's production declined by 4.8% year-on-year to 16.748 million tons, and South Korea's output decreased by 5.3% YOY to 11.193 million tons.
