Envision AESC announced on April 13 that it plans to build a new power battery gigafactory in Kentucky, U.S. This 30GWh gigafactory, with potential to expand capacity to 40GWh, will produce battery cells and modules for multiple global leading automotive manufacturers.
According to the company, the plant will produce new generation battery cells with 30% more energy density than the current generation, which will reduce charging time and increased range and efficiency for EVs, powering up to 300,000 vehicles annually after reaching designed capacity. Mass production at the plant is expected by 2025.
