1. Market Highlights
Encouraged by higher prices of raw materials all over the world, CRC and HGI coil prices in most Chinese regions went up by around RMB200/t (USD31/t) in March. However, the demand from downstream industries failed to recover as expected due to the outbreak of the COVID-19. Some steel mills became more active in exporting for increasing demand from overseas market when the supply from Russia and Ukraine reduced. Exporters gained confidence in raising offers further this month seeing the increase at home and abroad.
In the international market, CRC prices in Malaysia, Vietnam and India and HGI coil prices in India all witnessed an upward trend this month due to rising prices of raw materials. However, the demand did not pick up obviously.
