MEE: China to create 100 "waste-free cities" during 14th Five-Year Plan period

China will push forward with the construction of around 100 "waste-free cities" and encourage province-wide "no-waste zone" during the 14th Five-Year Plan period in an effort to reduce pollution, cut carbon emission, expand green space and achieve economic growth in a coordinated way, said Ren Yong, director general of the Department of Solid Waste and Chemical Management, in a news conference held by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) on March 30.
