1. Market Highlights
Upon the expectation of demand recovery and firm prices of raw materials, CRC and HGI coil prices in most Chinese regions increased by around RMB100/t (USD16/t) this month. However, after the Chinese New Year holiday, the demand from downstream industries picked up very slowly, which restricted prices from rising sharply. Some steel mills in North China reduced production due to the pollution curbs during the winter Olympics and resumed regular production after February 20. Exporters gained confidence in raising offers this month seeing the rise at home and abroad.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in Malaysia, Vietnam and India rebounded this month upon higher prices of raw materials and better expectation for the demand recovery.
