1 Market Highlights
Markets of cobalt metal 99.8%, cobalt powder 99.5%min and cobalt oxide 72%min witnessed increasing prices in January due to rising cobalt intermediate 20-30% prices. Consumers of cobalt metal and cobalt powder replenished stocks for end of the year, while those of cobalt oxide held wait-and-see attitudes affected by the weak demand.
Encouraged by producers' increasing costs, Chinese cobalt sulfate 20.5%min and cobalt carbonate 46%min prices went up in January although consumers from NCM precursor and cobalt powder 99.5%min industries just purchased from hand to mouth under such high prices.
Although demand of 3C market kept weak, Chinese cobalt chloride 24%min and cobalt tetroxide 73.5%min prices picked up in January owing to rising cobalt intermediate 20-30% prices.
