NSSC announced on September 8 to lift its contract prices in September for SUS304 nickel series thin and mid-thick cold-rolled stainless steel plates by JPY20,000/t (USD182/t) in domestic market (base prices and alloy surcharges up by JPY10,000/t (USD91.02/t) respectively). It raised prices for SUS430 chrome series thin cold-rolled stainless steel plates by JPY10,000/t (USD91.02/t) (reflecting in basic prices and keeping alloy surcharges unchanged) because of rising raw material and subsidiary material prices. In addition, as molybdenum prices went up, prices of 316 series stainless steel containing molybdenum were increased by JPY30,000/t (USD273/t) again after being lifted in March this year
. It was the fourth consecutive month for nickel series prices to go up. The price increasing range of SUS304 nickel series products totaled JPY125,000/t (USD1,138/t) since June 2020 when the prices regained upward trends, while that of SUS430 chrome series products amounted to JPY50,000/t (USD455/t) since March 2021.
