1. Market Highlights
Prices of section steel and steel pipe went down in major Chinese domestic markets during the month, with the markdown of around RMB300/t (USD46/t). The frequent price fluctuation heightened end users' cautious attitudes. Besides, the demand from downstream industries shrank gradually dragged by the rains and high temperature, both leading to the slow market. Reporting poor sales performance, both steel mills and traders showed little confidence in the market prospect and worried about a further price decline. Discouraged by narrowed profits, more and more steel mills reduced production during the month.
