1. Market Highlights
Chinese antimony prices still moved downwards in May. Affected by soft demand, the antimony trioxide market saw few deals, and the supply exceeded demand, therefore, suppliers had to cut prices to promote sales, leading to a sharp decrease of nearly RMB5,000/t (USD782/t) in antimony trioxide prices. However, the prices of raw material were firm due to tight supply. In particular, the price of antimony ingot held firm above RMB50,000/t (USD7,825/t) and that of antimony concentrate 50%min stood higher than RMB40,000/t (USD6,260/t). The antimony market expects to see more demand in June.
As for the international market, the declining exchange rate of US dollars and the delay of containers resulted in higher freight; in addition, the spot supply was tight, so some suppliers raised prices to test market. Approaching the summer break in July, consumers intended to prepare stocks in advance, and thus the prices ceased dropping and tended to be stable.
