Prices of section steel and steel pipe went through the up-down trend in major Chinese domestic markets during the month, following those of raw materials. The frequent price fluctuation weakened end users' purchasing activities and they purchased strictly according to orders for final products. Complaining higher purchasing costs but frequent change in selling prices, traders remained cautious about supplementing inventories, for fear of potential risks. The overall market inventory remained low. Meanwhile, steel mills became less active in production late this month discouraged by the continuous price drop.
