1. Market Highlights
Prices of section steel and steel pipe continued to go up in major Chinese domestic markets during the month. The continuous price increase and reduced supply of steel billet boosted steel mills to lift prices actively. Besides, with the weather getting warmer, the demand from downstream industries improved gradually, and the market inventory kept decreasing. In addition, as most traders remained cautious about supplementing inventories in February, for fear of potential risks, they did not burden with any sales pressures this month and were eager to raise prices when the purchasing costs rose. Nevertheless, facing the sharp and continuous price increase, end users just purchased according to orders for final products and refused to build stocks.
