Kimbo Bauxite development project under Rundi Aluminum started in 2016
At present, Kimbo & Co. Port built and operated by Yantai Port of Shandong Port, a strategic partner of the project, as well as the mining infrastructure such as roads are ready for mining, and the mining operation of Boffa Mining Area in Guinea has been started along the corridor of the area . The construction, ownership and operation of the river harbor dock and the supporting facilities in Guinea is a key link to open up the logistics supply chain from Guinea to China's aluminum ore . It is also an action to respond to the call of "The Belt and Road Initiative" of China, support the national strategy with practical actions and achieve win-win development.
With a planned annual production capacity of 10 million tons, Kimbo Bauxite project is expected to produce and export 5 million tons of bauxite this year, all of which will be sold to the Chinese and international markets. The first ship of around 200,000t of bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max is expected to arrive at the port in June of this year.
Kimbo Bauxite project was granted a mining concession by the President of the Republic of Guinea on November 19, 2018. On December 17, 2018, the Mining Agreement for the project was signed with the government of Guinea . On December 24, 2018, the Mining Agreement was unanimously approved by the National Assembly . In January 2019, Yantai Port of Shandong Port entered into the project and established a joint venture company with Kimbo Mining Company to carry out the construction and operation of mining infrastructure . On March 22, 2019, the construction of the port and the ore transport road was officially started, and the port now has an annual shipping capacity of 10 million tons.
The block of Kimbo Bauxite project is located in Fria of Guinea, about 145km away from Conakry, the capital of the country. The project is planned to build infrastructure in two phases: the first phase will build mines and necessary infrastructure with an investment of 358 million US dollars, and the second phase will build an alumina plant with an annual output of 3 million tons and a supporting power plant, with an estimated investment of about 3 billion US dollars . The total investment of the project is about 3 . 4 billion US dollars. Major infrastructure projects include:
Build a 90-kilometer long road (the first phase of construction has been completed);
Build a 90-kilometer-long railway (a feasibility study is under way);
Build an inland terminal depot (already have annual shipping capacity of 10 million tons);
Build an alumina plant with an annual output of 3 million tons (a feasibility study is under way).
. After nearly five years of construction, Kimbo & Co . Port was formally established in early 2019 and a mining port foundation stone laying ceremony was held on March 22 of the same year.At present, Kimbo & Co.
