On January 31, Luoyang Workstation of Henan Provincial Ecological Civilization Construction Promotion Association and the Waste Battery Recycling Industry Branch of Luoyang Environmental Protection Association were inaugurated.
According to JIANG Huimin, secretary general of Luoyang Environmental Protection Association, China has not yet established a standardized recycling system, and the volume of waste lead-acid battery recycled through formal channels is less than 30% of the total volume each year. Irregular recycling and utilization will result in the random dismantling and disposal of waste lead-acid battery, and heavy metals such as lead, antimony and sulfuric acid will cause adverse effects on the atmosphere, soil and water environment . As a large industrial city, Luoyang produces approximately 80 tons of waste lead-acid battery per day, which also has the problem of insufficient recycling . The establishment of this industry association branch will effectively regulate the recycling and disposal of waste lead-acid battery, designate specialized enterprises for reprocessing and utilization, and play a role in regulating and guiding industry self-discipline.
