Chongqing Iron and Steel successfully launches No.7 converter

According to the news from Baowu Steel, Chongqing Iron and Steel successfully launched its No.7 converter on the morning of 20 November and started construction of No.4 continuous casting machine at the same time. These projects, two major ones of Chongqing Iron and Steel's quality and efficiency improvement technological transformation projects in 2020, are significant measures for Chongqing Iron and Steel to be an iron and steel industry leader in Southwest China and for Baowu Steel to achieve the production target.
The successful launch of commercial production of No.7 converter is a key measure that Chongqing Iron and Steel carries out the production and operation strategy of increasing scale, adjusting structure and reducing cost, as well as an important breakthrough in ensuring annual steel output of two steelmaking series to reach over 4 million tons.
As a key project for Chongqing Iron and Steel to achieve the production goal of over 10 million tons, the No.4 continuous casting machine construction project will not only satisfy requirements on efficient production and high standard process quality after going into commercial production, but also improve automatic production capacity notably and increase production efficiency, with the single-machine annual production capacity reaching 2.6 million tons of steel.
Chongqing Iron and Steel finished the upgrading and transformation projects of No.1 blast furnace and No.4 blast furnace in succession earlier. Presently, No.1 blast furnace records an average daily output of over 7,500 tons and No.4 blast furnace achieves designed production capacity and efficiency soon after the production resumption. In terms of utilization coefficient, both No.1 blast furnace and No.4 blast furnace take a lead in the same type of blast furnace in Chinese market.
