1. Market Highlights
Given the weak demand from downstream clients, the brown fused alumina market remained slow in July. More and more producers suspended production due to the high stocks and slow sales. However, they held the prices firm as the production cost kept stable, resulting in almost unchanged prices of Chinese brown fused alumina in July.
With the increased prices of raw material alumina, the Chinese white fused alumina suppliers raised the prices in the first half of July. However, most buyers held wait-and-see attitudes and had no intention to purchase. Thus, the suppliers held the prices firm and the prices of Chinese white fused alumina stayed steady in the second half of this month.
In spite of the stable prices of brown fused alumina in China, the export traders lowered the prices to compete for more orders and the prices of Chinese brown fused alumina reduced in July.
With the increased prices of Chinese white fused alumina, the prices of Chinese white fused alumina moved up accordingly in July.
