1. Market Highlights
Chinese manganese flake prices dropped sharply and rapidly in mid-to-late August and downstream customers made purchases. As overseas downstream customers made substantial purchases after the summer vacation, Chinese manganese flake producers reduced stocks rapidly . In early September, the manganese flake supply from Tianyuan Manganese was tight while producers in South China held back from selling and kept prices firm with less inventory pressure after downstream purchased actively . Offers for manganese flake 99 . 7%min were raised a bit . In mid-September, mainstre prices for Chinese manganese flake 99.7%min went up to RMB11,300-11,500/t (USD1,600-1,628/t), up by RMB200/t (USD28.32/t) from the end of August . Downstream customers finished purchases for September and early October's production after the Mid-autumn Festival and became more inclined to refuse the firm prices of producers . In late September, as the National Day holiday approached, some Chinese manganese flake producers signed orders for the material to produced in the coming two weeks in order to recoup funds . They were active in selling and slightly cut offers.
In export market, demand from overseas market for Q4 was released in advance in mid-to-late August, so the demand was weak this month. However, as prices for Chinese manganese flake didn't drop sharply, export prices stood basically stable.
Generally speaking, prices for Chinese manganese flake showed a slight uptrend in September. At the end of September, mainstream prices for Chinese manganese flake 99.7%min were RMB11,200-11,400/t (USD1,586-1,614/t) EXW D/P, up by RMB100/t (USD14.16/t) from the end of August.
