HR strip prices in major markets of China saw different trends during this month. Prices in North China went up mainly supported by higher raw material costs and increase in steel mills' list prices, while those in East China and South China witnessed a downward trend on weak customer demand. With the arrival of the Spring Festival, customers left the market for holiday in succession and the market sales performance was quite bad. Having no confidence in the market outlook, traders were reluctant to build large stockpiles and the market inventory kept at a low level. Insiders suppose prices would go up slightly in the coming month due to high raw material costs.
