HR strip prices in major markets of China rebounded during this month mainly supported by higher raw material costs and increase in steel mills' list prices. Nevertheless, as demand from downstream customers continued to be weak at the year end, the market sales performance did not become better. Some steel mills could not keep the regular production due to the environmental protection inspection and the supply was decreased. Traders were not optimistic about the market outlook and they were reluctant to build large stockpiles. Insiders think prices would go down in the coming month with the arrival of Chinese New Year.
