China continues refusing application for new rare earth mine exploration and mining registration

The Ministry of Natural Resources of China recently issued a notice on further strengthening regulation on mining right approval on rare earth mine and tungsten mine. The notice will be valid for three years.
However, three cases are excluded: exploration projects conducted with national or provincial financial funds; large-sized rare earth groups' exploration projects determined by national authorities; rare earth exploration projects of large rare earth groups whose exploitation behaviors conform to national industriy policy, environmental protection requirement and mining quotas.
