HR strip prices in major markets of China went down sharply during this month mainly because of lower raw material costs and decrease in steel mills' list prices. However, expecting the price to drop further, customers without urgent need for materials were just holding a wait-and-see attitude and placing orders sparingly. Some steel mills did not resume the regular production affected by the environmental protection inspection. Having no confidence in the market outlook, traders refused to build large stockpiles. Insiders do not suppose prices would decrease further in the coming month.
