HR strip prices in major markets of China saw a downward trend during this month mainly because of lower raw material costs and decrease in steel mills' list prices. Some steel mills were still out of production due to the environmental protection inspection and the supply was decreased. However, although September was the traditionally high season for steel industry, demand from downstream customers did not become better and the market sales performance continued to be bad. Having no confidence in the market outlook, traders refused to build large stockpiles. Insiders do not expect the market to improve in the coming month.
