1. Market Highlights
Prices for Chinese silicon metal were firm on the whole in July. In domestic market, producers in main silicon metal producing areas in South China raised prices for the material in mid-to-late July as the costs were higher than the prices. In terms of export market, affected by the implementation of the new customs policy on August 1, traders delivered their orders in advance. Goods delivered in the second half of this month surged. But as overseas customers waited to see the effect of customs policy, they only purchased a few volumes of goods, and the export market saw limited transactions with few new orders.
