HR strip prices in major markets of China saw an upward trend during this month mainly supported by higher raw material costs and increase in steel mills' list prices. Some steel mills stopped the production for the Spring Festival holiday early this month and restarted late this month. However, as demand from customers remained weak amid the traditionally low season, the market sales performance was still bad. Traders were not confident of the market outlook and refused to build large stockpiles. Insiders do not expect the price to go up further in the coming month.
