National Energy Administration: China cut 2.4 million KW of backward coal powder capacity in first three quarters

The National Energy Administration held a press conference on October 31st to introduce the energy situation and the development of renewable energy in the first three quarters of 2017
. During the first three quarters, China had shut down about 2 . 4 million kilowatts of backward coal power units, and called off or suspended the construction of over 50 million kilowatts of coal power capacity . By the end of September 2017, China had transformed about 580 million kilowatts of coal power capacity to meet the ultra-low emission standard, two years ahead of the schedule to complete the target by 2020; and has transformed 530 million kilowatts of coal power capacity to meet the energy-saving standards, accounting for 85% of the target . In particular, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan and several other provinces or cities had fulfilled the transformation target one or two years ahead of the plan.
