HR strip prices in major markets of China witnessed an upward trend during this month mainly supported by higher raw material costs and increase in steel mills’ list prices. However, as customers without urgent need for materials were holding a wait-and-see attitude and refusing to place orders, the market sales performance continued to be bad. Some steel mills were still out of production affected by the environmental protection inspection, and traders were not confident of the market outlook and refused to build large stockpiles. Insiders do not expect the price to go up further in the coming month on weak customer demand.
