Chinese silicon metal prices continued to keep the soaring trend in August. Most silicon plants in Sichuan and Xinjiang were out of production affected by environmental inspections, leading to less supply of silicon metal in the spot market. Producers in other regions raised their offers persistently in large ranges as production cost moved up as a result of soaring prices for raw material, and downstream end consumers and some traders made active purchases, driving upward prices for silicon metal rapidly.
