In early August, the spot cadmium ingot supply was tight due to low operating rate of private cadmium ingot plants in China, and prices for the material was firm on the whole despite the slack season. From mid-August, most alloy producers in Yiwu stopped producing and selling affected by environmental inspections, and cadmium ingot consumers were still out of production in Xinxiang, leading to less demand and fewer transactions of cadmium ingot, so suppliers began to sell at lower prices, causing decreasing prices. In view of persistent environmental protection pressure, cadmium ingot prices are expected to bear downward pressure in September.
