Rare earth projects with total investment of RMB15 billion settle down in Rare Earth Capital

On August 28, 24 projects with total investment of RMB15 billion by rare earth enterprises from all over the country, involving five major industrial chains and end application products, namely rare earth permanent magnets, catalysis, polishing, alloy and hydrogen storage, settled down in the “Rare Earth Capital”.
These projects include the project of SmCo permanent magnet used in military areas and the development of new energy vehicle market in Europe with total investment of RMB100 million from the European Branch of Tianhe Magnets, the construction of demonstration production line of ultra pure rare earth metal for commercial uses by Baotou Rare Earth Research and Development Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences with an investment of RMB100 million, the flying robot project of CAS general aviation industry base by CAS Robot Science & Technology Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB4 billion, the multi-wire cutting machine project by Tangshan Jingyu Science & Technology Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB500 million, the project involving the production of ultra high magnetic field NdFeB magnetic materials and heavy rare earth coatings as well as the deep processing of magnetic materials by Shanxi Zhongheng Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB100 million, and the NdFeB production and processing project by Ning bo Zhonghang Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB120 million.
In recent years, Baotou has issued some policies and rules to speed up the development of rare earth industry and support the transformation and upgrading of the industry. In addition, as the electricity utilization in the production of end products has been included into the preferred trading range by the Baotou government, rare earth enterprises in Baotou enjoy considerable advantages in terms of the electricity costs which have dropped to as low as RMB0.26/kW. At present, 26 enterprises have been granted powder subsidies. Baotou government has set up RMB4 billion industrial development funds. The 24 new projects are focused on new materials and end application products, providing new impetus for the establishment of new rare earth material and terminal application product base in Baotou.
