The conversion rate to exceed 70% for industrial silicon products in Xinjiang by 2020

On August 22, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region issued related document, pointing out that the capacity of industrial silicon products in Xinjiang will be controlled within 2 million tons in order to improve the direct conversion rate for the material, which can exceed 70% by the year of 2020.
According to the document, guidance should be enhanced on industrial development layout of silicon-based new materials. Two distinctive silicon-based new material industrial bases, Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone and Turpan Economic and Technological Development Zone, will be the focus in Xinjiang. The fist one will be the center of production of polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon, slices and modules, silicon and aluminum alloy, silicon carbide and downstream new materials; the latter will focus on development of silicon alloy, polysilicon and other new materials.
