On August 17th, 2018, a trio from Association of China Rare Earth Industry (ACREI) including Ma Rongzhang and Yang Wenhao visited Comprehensive Division of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Reserve Bureau respectively and had a in-depth communication and discussion on rare earth industry and relevant market condition.
During the discussion, all were fully confident that the current comprehensive management action of the rare earth industry has achieved good results and the industry market order has been improved with rare earth prices back to rational levels; however, prices for some rare earth products have fluctuated within relatively large range and risen sharply since late June, which brought industry insiders’ attention and appeals. Therefore, the secretariat of ACREI put forward two suggestions . One is to slow down the stockpile of rare earth products temporarily in view of the current supply and demand relationship of raw material; the other one is to releasing some stockpile of rare earth products for stabilizing stockpiling as well as regulating market function.
Leaders from Comprehensive Division of NDRC and National Reserve Bureau both expressed that they will carefully consider and study the two suggestions and, at the same time, welcomed ACREIs’ visit and will conduct unscheduled and timely interactive communication with ACREI on related issues of rare industry in the future.
