Tongwei to invest high purity crystalline silicon and new energy project

Tongwei Co., Ltd. released an announcement on the afternoon of 9th August, the company intended to sign an “Investment Agreement” with Baotou municipal government and Kundulun government of Baotou to a invest high purity crystalline silicon and supporting new energy project of 50,000tpy in Kundulun district of Baotou, which will be involved in R&D, production, sale and related business of high purity crystalline silicon.
The investment of this project totaled RMB8 billion with two phases. High purity crystalline silicon project of 25,000tpy of Phase 1 with investment at about RMB4 billion will be started construction before 30 September 2017 and put into production in 2018. Phase 2 will be carried forward on the basis of market demand. The company’s annual capacity of crystalline silicon will reach 120,000t after completion of the project.
