MIIT and respective ministries inspect rare earth rectification in Jiangsu

During 17-19 May 2017, comrades and experts from MIIT Raw Material Division (Rare Earth Department) along with Ministry of Land and Resources Mineral Development Division, Ministry Of Environmental Protection Of Water Environment Management Department, the Ministry of land and, and Property Tax And Behavior Tax Division Of The State Administration Of Taxation formed an inspection team to inspect the progress of the special action against illegal activities in rare earth industry in Jiangsu Province. Relative comrades from Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Taxation Bureau and related cities and counties of Jiangsu attended the inspection activity.
The inspection team came to Changzhou Hailin Rare Earth Co., Ltd., Chinalco Rate Earth (Yixing) Co., Ltd., Yixing Changjiang Rare Earth Smelting Co., Ltd., Chinalco Rate Earth (Funing) Co., Ltd., Funing Rare Earth New Special Materials Co., Ltd., Yixing Yinmao Fluorescent Materials Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu Yongchao Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd. to inspect their raw material purchase, production and sales, financial data and product stocks and to perform on-site examination of products. Through inspection, the team found that over-produced plants did not suspend production for rectification according to the requirements of the local government, some enterprises were suspected of purchase and process of illegal mineral products, and tax evasion or not withholding resource tax and other taxes, and waste residue did not meet the requirements of environmental protection.
The inspection team exchanged views on the above issues with the comrades who participated in the inspection in Jiangsu, and comrades from relevant departments of Jiangsu province said they would seriously investigate and deal with the illegal activities found in accordance with the requirements of the special rectification. Companies which purchased and processed illegal mineral products shall be punished according to laws, and their illegal rare earth products and illegal income shall be confiscated; enterprises of tax evasion shall pursue rare earth resources tax and other taxes; illegal production, substandard waste residue and other issues shall be rectified timely, and rectification measures shall be fully implemented.
