Ministry of Environmental Protection publicly supervises environmental problem disposal of Hebei Langfang

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of China has found nonperformance in dealing with environmental problems in Hebei Langfang and decided to publicly supervise environmental problem disposal in order to achieve better governance on environmental issues.
According to reports, environment pollution is serious in plywood industrial cluster in Wenan county of Langfang city, which is common for most of the about 2,000 enterprises of plywood and plastics processing with poor supporting environmental protection facilities, significantly disorderly emissions, almost no VOCs emission control measures and direct emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides; problems are prominent in Dacheng county, including unclosed stocking yards from enterprises of dismantling and sorting, recycling metal casting, finished casting, extrusion, old wire drawing, etc. as the number of non-ferrous metal and thermal insulation material plants is large in the county; the environmental facility is poor with a large number of outdated processing and equipment exist.
The Ministry requires Langfang Municipal People's Government and relevant departments to conduct comprehensive environmental remediation on plywood enterprise clusters in Wenan county, non-ferrous metal processing and insulation materials enterprise clusters in Dacheng county, which is open to public supervision and required to be completed before late October this year.
