Yunnan Tin Group establishes Tin and Indium New Material R&D Center

Yunnan Tin Group established the Tin and Indium New Material R&D Center (thereinafter referred to as the “Center”) in Kunming on April 7.
It is said that the Center consists of two platforms (management and operation platform, application foundation R&D platform) and three sub-centers (tin material sub-center, tin chemical sub-center and indium material sub-center). The headquarter of the Center and the application foundation R&D platform was founded in the high-tech district of Kuiming, while the tin material sub-center was established in the economic development zone of Kuiming, the tin chemical sub-center in Gejiu, and the indium material sub-center in Wenshan.
Tin and indium are the dominant resources in Yunnan province. Tin is China's strategic and scarce resource. The tin industrial base has been formed with Yunnan Tin Group being the leader. At present, China has become the largest producer and consumer of tin in the world. The indium resources in Yunnan account for around 40% of total domestic resources, ranking first in China, and 25% of global resources. Yunnan Tin Group is the largest tin producer in the world and its subsidiary Yunnan Hualian Zinc & Indium Stock Co., Ltd. owns abundant indium ore resources.
Zhang Tao, Chairman of Yunnan Tin Group, stated that the company will accelerate scientific and technological innovation of tin and indium new materials and industrial development, strive to build a world-class tin-base new material R&D center and provincial indium-base new material R&D center, and promote the transformation and development through scientific and technological innovation.
