In Q1 of 2017, affected by the Spring Festival holiday, as most upstream tungsten concentrate producers and APT plants shut down for maintenance in advance, APT output decreased
. As the festival was over in early February, raw material prices rebounded rapidly, and the spot market continuously saw tight supply, which resulted in short raw material supply held by APT plants with low operating rates . Impacted by two sessions in March, the governments of all provinces strengthened the environmental protection inspections . APT plants’ operating rates in Jiangxi and Hunan remained at low levels; China’s APT output is expected to be 21,100t in Q1 of 2017, down by 15% MOM.
