During February, prices for Chinese Vanadium products remained tense and turbulent. On the one hand, the larger vanadium pentoxide manufacturers united together and still held firm prices while the rest quoted much lower prices under the capital pressure. On the other hand, due to the environmental inspection, steel mills increased the production cost and reduced the production volumes, so those put pressure on bargaining and lowering the bidding prices for vanadium products, especially for vanadium nitride prices.
According to Asian Metal, in the middle of this month, 46% of the industry insiders believed that the prices of vanadium products would keep sniffed, with large possibilities to increase after March, while 23% of the participants believed that the price would go down because of the soft demand and slow market activities. The rest of the participants reported that the market was in the chaos and they could not predict the market trend. As approached to the end of the month, the market showed an uptrend trend and the prices for both vanadium pentoxide and ferrovanadium edge up slightly.
Meanwhile, export prices for Chinese vanadium products remained in a weak stable state since the majority of market activities were long-term contracts. Followed by the trend of the domestic market, the price of vanadium products went down slightly in the mid of this month and kept stable afterward.
