Contrary to the expectation of market insiders, the Chinese rare earth market in September did not revive but continued showing a depressed price trend, with sliding prices, negligible deals and inactive purchasing psychology in the spot market
. The operation rate for the rare earth separation plants remained at a low level, and the NdFeB magnet producers did not purchase actively until the late September . Market insiders watched for the rare earth national storage news and bidding meeting, while the National Development and Reform Commission had cancelled the bidding meeting on 22 September, and insiders felt pessimistic towards the market in late this month, and the prices of heavy rare earth had declined a bit since then.
