In the background of the government’s cutting excessive production capacity and environmental protection inspection, the supply for raw materials such as steel billet showed some signs of being tight in early and middle August, causing increased prices. Supported by increased production cost, prices of wire rod and rebar generally recorded an upward trend after some fluctuations this month. However, the market began to weaken in the last week due to the bad market performance after prices rebounded. Insiders predict that prices for wire rod and rebar are likely to fluctuate and generally be on a downward trend in the coming month.
