LME lead has been on the decline throughout March
. In early the month, impacted by lower crude oil prices and stronger US dollar, as well as the weakening of Chinese stocks which brought about great concern toward the prospect of metal market, prices for LME lead dropped. Later on, US dollar strengthened as the Federal Reserve said it might increase the standard interest rate, prices for LME lead were hence pressured down and broke USD1,800/t . In the Chinese market, most lead smelters have resumed production, but demand from lead-acid battery plants remained weak, although many of them have resumed production and returned to the market, so prices for lead ingots fell slightly . In general, the Chinese lead ingot market has been weak during March.
