Chinese tungsten market saw declining prices in April. More plants restarted production, which led to an increase of supply, while downstream consumers only made minimum amount of purchase in accordance with requirements. Combined with a lack of capital, suppliers were forced to lower their offers. However, spot deals were still rare due to consumers’ pessimistic attitudes about the future market. Also, China has removed the export tax for tungsten and adjusted the domestic resource tax rate, under which the export market is believed to improve slightly while the domestic market to remain inactive.
