In January, downstream consumers kept purchasing magnesia to replenish their stockpiles before the Spring Festival. However, the whole magnesia market was still a little slow. Some smelters didn’t receive new orders, and they stopped production from the middle of January. As for the magnesia export market, Chinese magnesia suppliers kept delivering materials to their overseas consumers according the contracts signed before, but new orders were rare in spot market. Most overseas consumers held sufficient inventory and they didn’t have intention to place big orders in January, and the whole magnesia export market was back to quiet.
