Chinese imports of copper product in November down by 1% MOM

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Jan 14 - According to data from China Customs, China imported 53,029t of copper product in November, down by 1% month-on-month and up by 2% year-on-year.
China imports of copper foil reached 20,040t in November, and the volume accounted for 38% of the total imports.
In the past few months, Chinese production of copper product was on the rise, and the output in November set up a new record. As a result, domestic consumption for imported copper product declined. In addition, buyers faced great pressure on capital turnover and had to reduce imports in the year-end. In the first eleven months of 2013, the total imports of copper product stood at 592,969t, down by 3% year-on-year.
In December, Chinese domestic demand for copper product weakened further, and the imports of copper product may continue to decline.
