Selenium market moves upward slowly early August after it started to recover at the end of last month and then rebound fast along with the increase in manganese prices before it faces setback at the end of the month. Selenium and selenium dioxide suppliers hold back from selling in August based on two factors. One is that it is hard to rebuild raw material from domestic and oversea markets and the other is that they expect downstream demand to improve in September. Late August operation rate of manganese smelters does not improve significantly, so suppliers adjust their expectations and market softens.
