In July, as steel mills began to halt production for maintenance, the consumption of calcined bauxite reduced. Some small producers even halted production due to no orders. The supply of bauxite ore was still tight with increasing price, but the feeble demand made the mainstream price steady at RMB1,500-1,600/t (USD245-261/t) ex works VAT excluded for calcined bauxite 85%min 0-1mm,1-3mm and 3-5mm (down-draft kiln). As most foreign buyers left the market for summer holiday, the export market also became slow.
