BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Sep 15 - Market participants reported that demand from the downstream industry remains dim and the tantalum concentrate price is on the decline
A producer whose annual production capacity is 100t from South China claimed that domestic suppliers lowered their tantalum ingot 99.95%min offers to RMB1,980-2,080/kg (USD311-327/kg), down by RMB50/kg (USD8/kg) from RMB2,030-2,130/kg (USD319-334/kg) of middle September . “We just lowered the prices slightly to maintain our regular consumers as they bargained with us according to decreasing tantalum raw materials’ prices,” said the source, whose monthly output of tantalum ingot is 3 tons with no stocks at present.
The source revealed that some suppliers even quoted RMB1,900/kg (USD298/kg) for tantalum ingot 99.95%min in the spot market, but their raw materials are usually tantalum scraps recycled from wasted electronic products . Their price of tantalum ingot is relatively lower than the ingots which are produced by tantalum powder.
A consumer with a consumption volume of 1tpm from North China noted that Chinese tantalum ingot price is on the decline due to sluggish demand from downstream industry. They bought 1 ton of tantalum ingot 99.95%min at RMB1,980/kg (USD311/kg) last week . “We prefer to make purchase from hand to mouth as orders remain rare from our clients at the moment,” said the source, whose main products are tantalum targets, plates and pipes.
The source said that their consumption volume is around 1 ton of tantalum ingot 99.95% per month on average . “Although demand of tantalum ingot does not fluctuate greatly, the tantalum ingot price decreases according to declining raw materials’ price at present,” said the source, who holds a watchful attitude towards the future market.
. As a result, the prevailing prices of tantalum ingot 99.95% decreased to RMB1,980-2,080/kg (USD311-327/kg), down by RMB50/kg (USD8/kg) from those of middle September . It is predicted that the Chinese tantalum metal price will decrease further after the National Day.A producer whose annual production capacity is 100t from South China claimed that domestic suppliers lowered their tantalum ingot 99.95%min offers to RMB1,980-2,080/kg (USD311-327/kg), down by RMB50/kg (USD8/kg) from RMB2,030-2,130/kg (USD319-334/kg) of middle September . “We just lowered the prices slightly to maintain our regular consumers as they bargained with us according to decreasing tantalum raw materials’ prices,” said the source, whose monthly output of tantalum ingot is 3 tons with no stocks at present.
