A trader in Shanghai reported to Asian Metal that due to tight container supply and worker strike in South Africa, many foreign suppliers raise their offers slightly. According to the source, he got prices of about USD160/t CIF Shanghai port for South African concentrate chrome ore 40-42% for bulks, up by about USD5/t CIF China compared with those of last week . "I heard some buyers have accepted the increased prices . Meanwhile, demand from Chinese domestic buyers is much better, as those buyers are worried about further price increase," said the source.
He disclosed that the prices of South African concentrate chrome ore 42-44% go up to USD187/t CIF Shanghai for bulks, up by about USD5-7/t compared with those of last week. However, the prices of South African lumpy chrome ore 36-38% keep stable at USD175/t CIF China . "Chinese chrome ore prices in main ports are going up as well," said the source . The trader usually holds 70,000tpm of chrome ore in Chinese main ports.
