The first half year of 2013 is generally over; both the Chinese domestic and international tantalum and niobium concentrate prices go down. Tantalum and niobium products prices also decrease obviously. The whole tantalum and niobium industry keeps dim. Major domestic plants are pessimistic about the future market, so reduced their raw materials purchasing. Supply in the international market becomes ample, and the suppliers lowered their dealing prices initially.
At the same time, capacitor grade tantalum powder and tantalum wire demand keeps slow, while the tantalum metal and tantalum scrap demand keeps strong, but the prices of tantalum metal reduced slightly by about RMB50-100/kg (USD8-16/kg). Currently, the prices are about RMB3,400-3,500/kg (USD546-562/kg). Prices for the tantalum scrap are stable at RMB1,700/kg (USD273/kg).
